MENTORING

A mentor is someone, who can provide support, counsel, friendship, reinforcement, and a constructive model. The person must able to listen, to care, and to help others to know their own potential and strength.

As a Leader, in a company, the mentor must be able to assist with the mentee, the one who is receiving your mentoring
*to plan a project,
*to explore the answer to the question raised,
*to investigate together a topic of mutual interest,
*to set career goals, start taking steps to realize them,
*to learn and to strengthen their communication skills,
*to help them to relate to others,
*to make the right choices.

With that in mind, a mentor can make a difference in the life of the one, who is receiving your mentoring. The Mentor will provide a positive effect on their life.

I believe that when you are mentoring to someone, it does not end in one direction, but it is a both ways, of understanding communication, to give values to the actions, whereby increasing the interests and realizing the goals.
Last but not least, you learn something about yourself. It is shared opportunity for learning and growth.

Mentoring is like giving back and contributing to the future, like crediting back your life bank account. It can also been seen as making the company a better place.

Mentoring is to be fun, is to share the experiences, and there are occasions to share stories and jokes.

Mentoring do bring the benefits, but it is hard work. The rewards will be satisfying.

I bring a wide range of life experiences to the mentoring relationship, as a result I am a pillar of strength, and a great source of advice and information. Moreover I provide a second opinion or giving a different prospective.

Being a Mentor, it is my role to offer an insight to a solution, the advice as to how to handle the concern and to give the answers, and the suggestions to overcome any shortcomings or disagreement.

Mentor must be accessible. I must give them access to people as part of the network, opportunities, and information that are otherwise out of reach. In the end, the mentees can find and get involved in new situations, or find new resources. It cannot be misconstrued that the Mentor is sleeping on the job!! It is a key to succession

There are times, Mentor provides advocacy and diplomacy, and gets a shoe in the mouth. I have to stand up for their right, by assisting them to correct themselves, when they are in trouble with their peers. Which makes it important to know the mentee well!

In conclusion, I have mentored, far too many people. The relationship of loyalty remains well entrenched. because they are engaged, and they "claim ownership of the job". They have learned a lot and have their own objectives, to accomplish their dreams and visions. They do have directions, and they do have plenty of time and energy.

In the end, mentoring is one of the management tools that I have done!
