FIRST THING, FIRST....

What do you want to see and do?

Do you see these hills? What do you want to do first, walk through or just stare at it. Decide then what are importance and what are urgent. there are differences...

After the decision is made, think FIRST THING FIRST.....

To give a simple illustration.

We poise a simple request to a Port Managing Director, but it is so small, and tiny as compared to the amount on the bill. His trivial remark makes us look rediculous, even though he made it jokingly "the people in HQ needs to justifiy their existence".

If I put a big glass jar on a table, I need to put the four earthly elements into it. How would you proceed to fill up the jar. Think which will go into it first and follow by the others. The four elements are, WATER, SAND, GRAVEL, and ROCKS

If the elements are your decisions, or your looking into cost, big saving or small trivial one, we have to make it well, to determine what is importance or urgent?

The experiment was shown to us. The lecturer put the jar on the table. He filled it up with rocks. Then he asked the students, "Is it full?". the students replied "It is".
The lecturer pull out the gravel and poured into the glass jar, and gave it a few shakes. the gravel filled up the gaps in between the rocks. He asked "Is it full?"
The students were then wise up to the show, and replied "it is not"
The lecturer then pull out the sand and poured into it. He shook it a bit, and the sand filled up the gaps between the rocks and the gravel.
The students asked the lecturer, "Are you showing us that to have a meaningful life, try to fill up as much as possible, with all, that are given to us"
The lecturer with a grin in his face, pour the water in, and it filled up all the gaps.
Then he lectured the students, it is not on that matter of life. He tried to show us "First thing, First...." Look at the most important thing first, and look at the smaller later. Do not let the smaller decision or thing crowded out the big decision.
Do not look at the smallest of cost, which so trivial, and big cost are not look into.
He then told us to think in reverse, to illustrate his point. If you have put the water first, followed by sand, followed by graavel, and followed by rocks. Do you accomplish anything.
What would see in the experiment, it will be a huge mess.

Well, am seeing that is happening in real life. Various tiny trivial matters, and time consuming exchanges, drain out the energy of the staff to follow through.
when they are supposed to protect the interest of the company to overcome the crisis.

Look at the above picture of the hills. It is beautiful. Look at the trees, it is possible. Look at the ants, you have to trek through the hills. Do you have the scenery. No no!!!

LOOK AND THINK FIRST THING, FIRST........
