I have seen the movies RED CLIFF I & II, and have read the Chinese Classic "The Strategy of War" many times.
There is a familiarity in the Red Cliff story line with the Treatise and Chinese Military science written about 500BC.
I will not dwell in all the aspects, like Planning, Preparation, Strategy, Tactics, Organisation, Seizing Opportunities, Manoeuvres, Variation in Tactics, Sites and Observations, Terrian, Postions, Fire, and Spies.
Pictures really mean a thousand words! In the movies, I can see the actual strategies being applied and outlasted the enemies.
I like the fire that destroy the fleet of ships, by the observation of the timing of the wind, the formation in the bay
I like the manner, of how to promise and provide the thousands of arrows.
I like the sacrfice being made to delay the war, with only one woman. The tide of war changes!!
Last but not least, hasty decisons are not good, when the angry General ordered the beheading of the Commanders of the fleet, because false informations were being fed to him. Without the expertise of the Commanders, mind you they were the best, his armada of ships had no formation and were totally destroyed.
Usually I go to the shows, to relax and also to see whether the theme can be applied in my daily life of management.
So in time of Crisis, there will be some mistakes made!!
